Panaji: Goa received light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning on Thursday with no major incident reported in the last 24 hours, according to the state disaster management authority.The India Meteorological Department had issued a heavy rainfall alert at isolated places on Thursday and Friday due to presence of a trough in the lower levels passing through Karnataka and upper cyclonic circulation over north Tamil Nadu, resulting in bad weather accompanied by clouds, heavy rains and thundershowers.As per rainfall data released by the IMD on Thursday, the state on an average has received 0.6mm rainfall against the normal rains of 3.2mm in the last 24 hours. Quepem recorded the highest rainfall of 4mm followed by Sanguem 0.9mm.“All the rain gauge stations have recorded 40-50% rainfall in the last 24 hours. The rainfall distribution was scattered which will continue on Friday with heavy rains at isolated places and thereafter the rainfall intensity will reduce,” the IMD scientist Rahul M said.Fishermen are advised not to venture along and off South Maharashtra-Goa coast for next 24 hours due to squally weather conditions.
