Suniel Shetty shares his ‘fear’ about Hera Pheri 3: ‘Can we even get remotely close to the original?’

Hera Pheri 3 has been making a lot of buzz ever since it was announced. After months of being unsure if Akshay Kumar would be apart of the film or not, it was recently confirmed that he will be a part of the comedy franchise and fans are looking forward to watch film original trio — Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty recreate their memorable chemistry like they did in Priyadarshan’s 2000 comedy classic Hera Pheri. Sanjay Dutt is joining the cast this time around. In a new interview, when Suniel was asked if the story of Hera Pheri will take a leap because it has been 17 years since the release of the first film. He shared with Pinkvilla, “Yes and no. Because the characters are the same and it is their journey so they don’t need to take that kind of a leap from a story perspective. All I know is that it is a great script, it is an emotional journey of these three guys (Paresh’s Baburao, Suniel’s Shyam and Akshay’s Raju) and their struggles and then Baba (Sanjay Dutt) coming in, so it should be fun.”  A post shared by Khiladi Bhaiyya Akshay Kumar (@khiladibakshay)While Suniel is excited for Hera Pheri 3, he also opened up about his worries for the third installment of the franchise. “The only fear is — can we even get remotely close to the original? So there I think… if we do things honestly, because Hera Pheri was a very honest film and if we maintain that honesty (then) people will latch on to that film because it’s got a great recall value, so I am looking forward to it.”When asked when he would start shooting the film, Suniel shared, “I think the second half (of 2023) somewhere, dates are being worked out.”The first part was directed by Priyadarshan, while the sequel was written and directed by the late Neeraj Vora. Recently there were rumours that Dream Girl director Raaj Shaandilyaa will helm Hera Pheri 3, however, the film’s producer, Firoz Nadiadwala, had rejected the rumours and had shared that the team had started working on Hera Phera 3 in 2014 but had to stop after Neeraj Vora fell ill. Vora passed away in 2017.
