Bird sanctuary in Goa all set to get wings

Staff ReporterPanajiWith the state government deciding to give thrust on development of ecotourism and parks within the forest areas, Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday said infrastructure of the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary will be improved with the establishment of camping areas and jungle trails.“Following a discussion with the forest officers, we have decided to give thrust on development of forest ecotourism and forest parks within the forest areas,” the Minister said.Rane said the government will carry out these activities with guidance from experts in order to ensure that people develop interest and visit the forest parks. “Camping areas and jungle trails will be prioritised. We will create an entirely new ecosystem so that we are able to see the animals within the parks,” he said.The Forest Minister had on Thursday announced that the Goa Forest Development Corporation will be in charge of the ecotourism activities as well as management of the forest parks in the state.
